5 Proven Ways To Build Your Self Confidence
In this mortal life, we’ve heard the word “confidence” n….number of times. And, we all understand the incredible power it holds. It empowers us to build an unshakable belief that remains untouched and untamed by external forces. Simply put, it is the power that can only be felt by embracing it and knowing that life is not eternal, and we’ve got less time on this planet.
Yet, we frequently find ourselves in a constant battle with our own thoughts. At one point, we feel unbreakable, as if we’ve got our shit together, and at other times, we feel like the whole world is tearing apart. It usually happens when our heart doesn’t align with our internal emotions and standards. And as time goes by, it becomes our weaknesses making us feel like an outcast who doesn’t deserve to live on this planet—hypothetically.
So, what we can do about it? How can we build our self confidence? If you’re circling around this question, then worry not!
Here are 5 incredible ways to build your self confidence and lead a fulfilling life.
1) Focus on yourself
You are who you are, and you don’t need to prove to anyone. Period! You’ve got this one life, and still if you’re living it on other’s people opinions and judgements, then you’re not giving this life a real respect. You should appreciate the gift that your parents have given to you. You’re not going to get this life again, no matter who says that other life exists. It is here! Right Now! Use it to discover your purpose and what you can offer to this world. Life is a gift, so cherish it and make the most of it by focussing on yourself.
2) Visualize
What is more important to you? Is it your happiness? Is it your dream? What is it? Think! Take your time. Remember, your first step to achieve anything is to first visualize it. Imagine you’ve finally achieved your goal, and you have bought everything you ever wished for or dreamed about. How you’re feeling right now? Good? But it won’t last long. Unfortunately! As this euphoria is not real…it is just in your mind. So, you might be wondering. How do I make it real? How do I go about it? The truth lies in consistency. If you’re thinking about your goal everyday, then it naturally becomes a part of your life. You might not know about it. But, you will sense it, as if something is crawling through your skin, something that you can’t resist. It breaks you apart every time you think about it.
Other side, you see other people whom you don’t even know. They’re flourishing in their carriers. You start making comparison, and it kills you even more. Then you go back to your den again, and shout at yourself. What did I do wrong. Why can’t I make my dreams come true? Why does it have to happen to me? Then out of a sudden you hear a voice. It whispers in your ear, and apparently, this is not the first time you’ve heard it. It’s been with you since the inception of your dream. It talks to you about your whole identify, who you are today, and what you need to do to transform yourself completely to a being that walks with dignity and realism; who knows how important it is to have self confidence in life, and how it can help you to become the best version of yourself.
3) Don’t be lazy – Take Action
Self confidence comes with a realization that you’ve got same amount of time like any other individual on the planet. Period! Remember, no matter how big your dream is, if you’re desperate enough to achieve it regardless of how difficult it may appear to be, then it will create a spark within you. A spark that fuels your motivation and helping you overcome yourself, and your innermost fears. The only reason why most people fail to achieve greatness and tranquillity in their lives is their lethargic attitude. They simply walk away where the hard work is needed.
And the reason? The reason lies in their daily habits, routines and life choices. They’ve accepted their life as it is, and do you know what’s ever more staggering? Deep inside they know that they should improve their lives, but their fear not to, because they’ve already convinced themselves that they can’t do shit, and are content in their comfortable lives. They procrastinate day in and day out, often fooling themselves into believing that they’ve achieved something remarkable, when in reality, they’re simply being delusional.
4) Change your perspective
Wayne Dyer once said, ‘If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.’ This quote helps us understand why having a clear and positive perspective is crucial and why it’s important to be true to yourself. Having a positive outlook towards life surprisingly lead to a major shift in your thinking pattern, beliefs, standards and your mindset overall. When you begin to see obstacles as an opportunity, instead of a barrier, you will realize that whatever you had imagined about what could wrong, were merely products of your own thoughts.
Remember, you cannot expect a different result with the same old thinking or same old perspective. You will have to educate yourself by learning from others experiences and how did they do it when it almost seemed impossible for them.
Did they have some kind superpower to accomplish their goals? None! They simply had the courage to change their perspective and look at their problems from a different lens. They had the courage to say no when they had to say no. They didn’t go around pleasing people, they just refused to accept the life as it is, because they wanted more, and eventually found a way out of the rut. Hence, it is crucial for us to question everything that doesn’t fit to our beliefs, emotions, and the way we envision our lives.
5) Have self-compassion
We all make mistakes, we learn, and we grow. So have compassion towards yourself when your life doesn’t turn around as you expected it to be. This is the only life you have. So, why to live it in shame? In guilt? Being a human is the greatest gift one can have. It’s ok if haven’t achieved your dreams! It’s ok. Maybe it wasn’t meant for you or maybe you didn’t try hard enough to achieve them.
Whatever may be the case. Treat yourself kindly, as if you are holding an infant in your arm. Feel his sensitivity. How fragile he is. He needs help like all of us. So, whenever the life hits you, then remember this too shall pass. All you need is to have patience for the right moment when everything starts turning into your favor; when you don’t need to answer to anyone; when your conscience is in relief, and your heart is at ease.
